hey guys so i have this acer veriton sff computer with an i3 4130 (exact model VX4630G) and i just bought a asus amd r9 280x, will i be able to install this onto the mother board with a new psu/case because the problem is the motherboard only has a 12 pin atx power supply to the motherboard and most nearly all modern power supplies come with 20 - 24 pin atx connectors for the motherboard. what should i do someone please help me, I'm really confused, also the acer power supply is only 230 watts which will not be enough to run the graphics card.

Solution
Does the card actually fit within the case with side on? power supply is too small also! New case/ psu could fix that but psu won't plug to motherboard either. would need new mobo(compatible with old cpu/ram)/case/psu. Probably reinstall windows fresh also to suit new mobo

I would probably forget the old business pc as a platform to make a gaming pc tbh. Could get a gtx 750 ti low profile, they don't have extra power needs from pcie's, but the games played would be low/mid requirements. And psu may not be enough still

yeah so i was planning on only getting a new case and power supply now i have to get a new mobo awell 🙁 , it would have been a 300 australian dollar pc, any way thank you for your reply mate :)

Budget for the remaining upgrade?
The i3 will be fine with that GPU, but you need to get a good power supply for sure.
What form factor is the PSU?
You could always just run the PSU from the outside of the case, it's going to be extremely costly otherwise.
It's what I recommend doing, or you can just sit it inside, doesn't have to actually mount. 😛
You want this PSU either way depending on what you choose, grab it now and sort out the rest later.
