G'day,

The used laptop is a gift, the history it unknown.

There are 2 memory modules installed Kingston 4G and ELPIDA 2G, the laptop loads nicely, boots into Windows, all the software runs well.

In order to increase the RAM, I bought a memory module -- Kingston 4G which is identical to the one installed, I checked it on another system, it works OK.
After I install the 4G Kingston instead of the 2G ELPIDA, and with any other combination in the modules number or location which is different from the existing (even if I swap the old modules in the slots), the laptop does not start at all, not even to BIOS. The power button lights and momentarily goes off, then lights again, HDD LED blinks, the fan works, nothing else happens, after about 10 seconds the laptop goes off.
When I reinstall the original RAM modules into the original slots, the laptop works nicely as before. Resetting BIOS to default settings did not help.

Notes:
The laptop is without Nvidia video card (burnt out) and the optical drive.

Question:
What can I do to make the laptop work with 8GB of RAM?

Any advice will be very much appreciated.
Stay safe and have a nice day! :^)

Using the serial number on the laptop, narrow down a support page bespoke to the laptop off of Acer's support site, then see if you have any BIOS updates pending. Might want to also parse an image of the sticks of ram you're working with. Please add a picture of the old stick of Kingston ram and the new stick of Kingston ram, side by side(on both sides).

Here's Acer's website, BIOS downloads for my laptop, I am clueless about this "Not for upgrades". They also may have a typo in the oldest BIOS.
