Hello, I recently obtained an Acer V3-571G laptop, and the CPU idle temperatures are 70c - 75c, which isn't good, I know. What can I do? The person who gave it me suggested a laptop cooling pad, which I'm going to do, but I doubt this will completely eliminate the issue.

A cooling pad apparently fixed the issue for him.

The first thing to check is dust and lint build up on the intake port for the cooling fan. These will commonly get blocked and affect the cooler. You can buy an aerosol can of the compressed air at Staples or Best-buy for this purpose. I've had to do this with older laptops. Also, how did you get temperature results of 70-75c? I wouldn't want that sitting on my lap for too long, especially if I was trying to start a family.;)

Haha, well it wasn't on my lap, I was under a blanket and it was on my lap. The temperatures were fluctuating seemingly randomly, it went to 50c, and then 60c and started fluctuating, then went to 70c and fluctuated between 75c and 65c, this was when I was browsing the web.

The temperatures could of been affected because the laptop was on a blanket, but when the laptop was on my laptop bag, they were 70c. Will I need to open up the laptop to spray it or will I be all right just spraying it out from the outside?

Also, currently, as I have Chrome, Steam and Skype on, my temps are 50c - 55c, which is good, and it's still ontop of the blanket.

Sorry for the late reply, I went to sleep, as I'm British and it was like 2:30.

There's no need to take it apart. Just start out by blowing back the opposite direction of air flow. The port on the bottom is most likely the intake. So, blast through the side port and you will probably see a cloud of dust and lint exit from the bottom port. Obviously, make sure the system is powered down, you don't want to stress the fan, by forcing air over it while its pushing against your aerosol compressed air.
And the blanket will definitely decrease air flow and increase heat build up. A hard surface, e.g. book or magazine, to lay the PC on will help to maintain available air flow, just make note of where the fan port is and offset the book. I have an old amd turion 64 x2 laptop that is a heat demon.

The temperatures seemed to raise back to the one when they were on my lap again even when they were on my desk
