Hello everyone, I've been having an odd problem with my new(ish) monitor, an Acer x213h. When my computer starts. sometimes my display goes off and stays off. Sometimes forcing my computer to shut off and restarting it will bring the display back on, sometimes not. This only ever happens while I'm using the hdmi port, and never happens while using DVI.

My computer specs are:

Windows 7 64-bit
AMD Phenom 9850 quad-core
4GB Memory
Geforce GTX 285

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I would love to know why this happens.

use your DVI port. there is no reason you need an HDMI cable hooked up to your monitor unless you depend on monitor speakers. even then there would be a analog line in if you had them (you dont need digital audio on shitty monitor stock speakers) . the DVI video signal is identical to the signal in an HDMI cable, the only difference is, HDMI can feed audio in the same line.
