Well, I have finally come around and made a first and very rough draft
of this - an acfg information page on the Pricelessware sites.

See here:
http://users.pandora.be/erlandvo/acfg/acfg.html
http://users.pandora.be/erlandvo/acfg/acfg_2.php.htm

I'am awaiting feedback from the webmasters of the Pricelessware sites
and 'members' of alt.comp.freeware.group... 🙂

NB: I have used an image from Rudy V. without asking. Rudy, is it okay ?

Looks good so far! :) One minor comment, though - acfg doesn't, quite,
follow acf's definition of freeware, in that IIRC acf doesn't consider
that online-only programs count. This group, at least in my experience,
does.

Error 1: It should read: members of alt.comp.freeware.games group...

Thanks, David! 🙂

But I think you're wrong. I have not followed the discussions in acf
about webware, but found this recent post (october 9th) from Susan B.
who seems to indicate that online programs (webware) can be freeware,
but they have decided not to make it a category on the Pricelessware sites.

Am I correct?

Yes. The webmaster is delighted :) but ACF newsgroup participants "own"
the www.pricelesswarehome.org site - they need to be made aware of and
approve of the proposed ACFG page. (IMO the gamers over there will be
*very* pleased.)

Why don't you cross-post to ACFG and ACF so we can have a joint discussion.

Suggested how-to: KISS - a link to an ACFG subdirectory on the main
index page and ACFG takes it from there. IOW -

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/index.html would show a link to:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acfg/

You would be able to upload directly to that. You could use your own
layout and color schemes if you like, add other ACFG pages etc. etc.

Them's my thoughts. . . Do you prefer some other method?

Looks good, Susan. I don't need any upload access. I have full faith in

Sorry, I haven't been reading a whole lot in this group lately... Do I
need to add some links and stuff to my side over on pricelessware.org?

Also, if you're making a pricelessware games site, you have permission
to use pricelessware.org design with only one request from myself....
Please please oh please don't litter your site with tons of ads and
stuff. Keep in mind, it's only a request, you still have permission.

Garrett: yes, please! 🙂
That was the whole idea. Please take some time to read the entire thread
in acfg, so that you can see what I'm thinking of.

Thanks, Garrett. I have no intention of 'stealing' your design! 🙂
It was just made so you and Susan could see how a potential acfg
information page would look *on you're sites*! ;-)

And I hate "ads ond stuff" myself! 🙂

Ah, I stand corrected - and of course Susan's reply in this thread is
the authoritative one. I must admit that I've had very little to do

no *recent* changes in that area. . .

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2004/CumulativePL.php

PL2001 Google (On-Line)

At least one other on-line selection in the early PL years is shown on
that list - a later consensus seems to have been that such selections
should not be allowed. When the subject came up last summer the
consensus was the same: okay for discussion, not allowed on the PL. . .

Looks very good Susan. Thank you! The only thing i miss is a link to the
acfg page from the the rest of the site... 🙂

Since I started this "show", I'll make sure to "tell" you and Garrett
when it will have to be updated...

I find it strange that so few people in acf/acfg have an opinion on the
page. Seems my "first rough draft" is the one we have to use...
No objections = acceptance... (or?)

Garrett: Did you see my suggestions to how to incorporate the page in
your site? (new fourth link in the Information table). I know it was
Susan B. who asked / suggested a acfg pages, but hope you will want it
to... 🙂

BTW: Copywrited? (a new one for me...)

That's to give ACF participants a chance to comment re hosting ACFG on
the PWH site. The link will be added in a day or two if no objections
are posted.

Ah, now I know what I was thinking of. A couple of years ago there was
an "ACGF recommended list" on a website (can't remember the address -
gah!), which although not PL as such did do some of the same things -
and online games *were* allowed on there. In other words, acf
restricted them to discussion: we didn't.

hmmmmmmmmm. . .

Those apps could be used for a new "good" games page - omit the dead
links and table the others - add more apps after discussion in the
newsgroup. . . If there's any interest I'll do a draft web page as an
aid to further discussion.

ISTM definitions of the various game categories would be a useful
addition to the ACFG pages. (IIRC some definitions were created when the
2002 list was selected.)

You know, that game is weird. When I first install it, it runs great!
Then after 20 - 25 runs, it starts running *real* slow, to the point of
unplayability. Too bad.

Have a great day!
