I just purchased an Actiontec 500Mbps powerline adapter and I can't seem to get it to work past 5 minutes. I had it working at one point and was very please. It stopped working, however, and now I have no internet access to the computer. I have heard with power line adapters, that you have to have the two adapters on the same power circuit. Is this accurate? I'm pretty sure they aren't and weren't when I had them connected the first time.

Neither are connected to a power strip, just directly to the wall. Thanks for any help. I'll try and explain anything else in question as best as I can.

Solution
Unplug them for a minute or two. Plug one of them in. Push and hold its button for 5-10 seconds, or until an indicator LED begins flashing. Then plug the other one in, and then hold its button down for 5-10 seconds.
The PL pair I'm using is a 200Mb/s set; I got a 500Mb/s set for a review that died soon after I plugged them in, first one, then the other a day or so later. I don't remember the brand, but it was not Actiontec.

I didn't think they had to be. They didn't get hot necessarily, just warm. And by resetting them, do you mean just unplug them for a bit and retry? Because I've tried that several times. There are also buttons on the bottom of each that I have no idea what they do. They are not describe in the manual, and pressing them simultaneously does seemingly nothing. Thank you for your fast response and input, by the way.

That's essentially what happened to me. They both are lit and look as if they are working, however I still have limited access. I'll call Actiontec and see if they can shed any light. I'll post when I hear back.

So apparently those buttons on bottom are meant to be pressed and held until each adapter was reset, then I had to pair them up again. They are working great now. Thanks for the input!
