Activating retail eng intl version of Windows 8.1 in North America

Hi,

I was looking to upgrade my parents computer from Vista to Windows 8.1. I went ahead and ordered a full retail home copy of Windows 8.1 (WN7-00578) but ended up receiving an international english copy with SKU (WN7-00580). Will it still activate normally in Canada despite the fact that this sku is normally sold for UK and Australian users? It's close to Christmas now so if it will still activate normally I'd rather not bother going through the whole RMA process.

If you obtained it from an authorized retailer, I see no reason why it shouldn't work.

Internet activation probably won't work. If the key is legit and hasn't been used on another machine, you can use phone activation instead. Go to the charms and click search. Type slui.exe 4. It'll give you an installation ID that you'll provide when you call the number. If it all checks out, you'll get a confirmation ID that will activate Windows.
