Active displayport adapter vs non active

Hello,

I have myself a HIS Radeon HD 5870.

While trying to create my eyefinity setup, I ran into this little issue and wondered if anyone could help.

I have 3 x 24" monitors, all set at 1900 x 1080 res connected to my graphics card. The problem is my 3rd monitor, which is connected to the graphics card via DP>VGA addaptor is out of color compared to the other two monitors, which are identicle brand & model. I tried using a DP>DVI adaptor, which is not active and the graphics card would'nt activate it while the other two monitors were connected (DVI>DVI & DVI>DVI)

Somone please help?

Have you tried running the DP output to one of the other monitors? Sometimes this makes a difference.

All of the monitors are the same, i'll try it thow.

Na, It dosn't make a difference. Do you think I should invest in an Active displayport?

I wouldn't get a displayport ready monitor. That should definitely work. Can you return the other adapters you have?

Yeah, Thanks for help mate. I wont be buying another monitor thats for sure, I was just wondering if maybe it's because I dont have an 'Active display port' that the color is out of place.

A heads up on Active and Non Active Displayport adapters:

If you have a single video card, and hook up a 3rd monitor to it (eg: eyefinity), you MUST use an ACTIVE displayport adapter, not a passive one.

If you are using one or two monitors, passive displayport adapters work just fine.

But then how does my DP>VGA cable work? it's passive and isnt powered by anything else.
