Question Active USB killed two CPUs in two days

I am using one of these cables to make my Artec 3D scanner work. Artec on their website said this is the best and tested one they use.

How ever, I have killed two PSUs in two days. I am out of PSUs. Why is this cable killing my PSUs? When I plug the active cable in, the cable's own power plug light lights up. So when the computer is on or off, the LED is lit up as if it was plugged in. Before the PSUs in the computer died, the cable worked fine. The scanner worked fine.

Whats going on? Is my cable bad? I hope not, I paid a ton for it. Am I suppose to unplug it when not using it?

Are you using the accessory Navilock external power supply that they sell to power it?

No, that plug won't work in my region. I am using this one:

BUT, I just found the issue. I randomly unplugged the linked external power supply above. The computer just turned on by itself. So I shut it down and manually turned it on again. It worked. I switch PSUs to test the other. It is working fine now.

Thank you for your help. Sorry to waste your time. But this was weird. I never experienced anything like this. I guess going forward I will only plug in the active powered USB after the computer is turned on and only when I need to use the 3D scanner.
