ActiveSky vs. Flight1's new Flight Environment

I know Flight1's Flight Environment hasn't been out long, but I'm
looking for a weather enhancer and this as well as ActiveSky seem to
be the best (maybe the only ones!) Has anybody had a chance to try
them both yet?

How to they compare? I'm more interested in accurate effects rather
than pure eye-candy. I nice (?) bit of wake turbulance when taking off
in a 172 closely behind an A-330 would make things more interesting. I
know thats an extreme example, but I'm after anything that is better
than default. I often fly, real life, in a 3-axis microlight (I think
they're called ultra-lights in the US) so I know how things can move
around - a seagul fart causes turbulance in one of these things!

Any opinions on either package would be helpfull

TIA

Ian.

Another Ian!
..
Flight Enviroment complements Active Sky very well. The former is about
textures, the latter is a weather engine that produces the weather system to
use the textures. Work well on my machine.
However Active Sky will soon be upgraded and that may include it's own
textures so may be worth waitng

I don't have ActiveSky, but I was ogling (not Googling) it last night.
The press release for ASV (coming out "soon") says

--- quote ------------------------------------------------------------

Chris Willis, developer of the extremely popular "FS Sky World" (and
very talented graphics artist), has teamed up with HiFi to create a new
integrated weather engine and complete cloud/environment upgrade named
"Active Environment", included with ASV.

Active Environment (AE) contains over 15,000 textures in dozens of
categories, including a full suite of realistic cloud texture style
groups such as Translucent, Wispy, Sharp, Detailed, Smoky, etc. Each
cloud style has several different selectable edge types and variations.
Other optional environment graphics include Sun/Moon/Snow/Rain
Textures, Haze Textures, Sky Color Textures, and much more, all
integrated into the AE Interface!

I just got FE by Flight 1 and it is great and works very well with
Active Sky. Very frame rate friendly clouds that look better than the
add on clouds I had before, and super water textures too. Well worth
the admission price, in my opinion.
