Knowing that AdBlock Plus is not yet compatible with Edge, is there something out there that will work? I'm set on using Edge as my primary browser in Windows 10, but I'm tired of those annoying ads that play before every YouTube video.
I installed Adguard and it works like a charm. Too bad it's $19.99 per year, but I can subscribe to it until a free program is released. Thanks!
No problem. Windows 10 should be out by the end of this month so there should be some decent free ones once its officially released.
So don't purchase that $20 a year subscription unless you are really happy with it

this adblocks using your host file its very effective and system wide works just fine with windows 10. nice part no plugins needed. i just use the first option mvs the same list i used to use with windows 7 no problems.
Typical Microsoft, they give you W10 for free and then want money for the xtras. Edge is a very good browser but I need a Free Adblocker and my free trial of AdGuard has run out so back to one of the other many browsers I use that have free adblockers

Just use chrome, firefox or opera they all have many free adblockers

That's not Microsoft asking for money..... that's the people who made that program, they have already confirmed extensions will be coming to edge, patience....

Could you explain a more in detail how to use this program please. I only want it for edge as i have adblockers working ok on firefox and torch and do not want to upset them. TNX

Do NOT use Hostsman unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure you know what you are doing. After I installed it, it blocked ALL internet access. Simply uninstalling Hostsman didn't work. I have to copy a new HOSTS file from my laptop to my computer via a USB stick to get internet working again! What a pain!
Thanks for that Simon it seems to be working a treat. All I did was run the 'setup' file and nothing else. Edge now opens the sites I was having trouble with before with no adds now.
I checked Firefox, my main browser and it has not been added to the addons which is good as I have adblocker plus working ok with that browser. No idea where it has gone in 'edge' as that browser is so hard to find anything. Now I can maybe do some more research and change to 'edge' if it behaves itself as it is faster than other browsers.
Adfender isn't an Edge extension: it's a browser independent adblocker. If you disable your Firefox adblocker, you'll notice Adfender blocks ads in Firefox, too.

I thought this was a free program. I am now getting "popups" saying i have so many days left.
Also when I Deleted the program I cannot get rid of "AFHook32.dll" Google says this is an unwanted dll file and should be removed.....not proving to be so good after all, yet it works ok.
If you use the free version, don't bother these popups.
Perhaps you can install Adfender again. Don't forget to close/exit Adfender and remove it with Revo Uninstaller (free version) to get rid of AFhook32.dll. http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
Got it going again ok. That Revo Uninstaller couldn't see the adfender installation to uninstall.
Just left the afhook32.dll there and did a reboot and a reinstall and it went in ok. Says I have two days left now so as you said just ignore that popup and see what happens.
I have installed it on my D drive, as I like to keep C drive as clean as possible in case of a reinstall of windows.
Maybe Revo can't see other drives??
TNX again
Strange, as far as I know RU is the best uninstaller, even better than most shareware uninstallers.
If you've a 64 bits Windows, you can try Geek Uninstaller
http://www.geekuninstaller.com/
I expect that after the two days Adfender will change in the free version, so some options will be disabled.
absolutely agreed. also i tried adgaurd but you have to install it onto your machine, unless i am blind I did not see it as an extension in the edge browser. in chrome with adblock you can remove ads manually which is a must for us here.
