Hello,

I am having a hard time finding a definitive answer on this so maybe someone can clarify this for me.

I have multiple Adaptec 2405 controllers in various servers. I recently went through and updated the bios on a few of them that I had assemebled to make an ISCSI SAN. I noticed in the new bios (The old one was at least a couple years old if not more) that the maxcache capability had shown up as an option. I know from my research that this feature had been designated for the 'Q' models of the card, so I was surprised to see it there. When building an array, it also asked if I wanted to use the maxcache feature..... which made me curious. Is this now included in the pre-'Q' version of the card? I purchsed an intel 320 series 80gb SSD and added it in to one of the controllers. Again, maxcache is there, but when I go to try and add it to the pool it says that there are no maxcache ready drives. In Adaptec's compatability list, it shows the 320 series as being compatible with Maxcache. It also lists the 2405 along with the 2405q as the card headings for the list.

I am just trying to find out if this will work, or if I am just chasing my tail. Not sure why adaptec would not just remove the feature from the bios if it is not available. (It only lists the available raid options.... and not ones it can not do).
Can anyone shead some light for me?
