Adapter for PSU

I need an adapter for my PSU because my motherboard is 10 pin(my PC is Lenovo Ideacentre 300-20ish). Now logically I think I should buy the 24 pin to 10 pin adapter, but in the Lenovo forum i saw people saying that they bought the 24 pin to 14 pin adapter for the same 10 pin motherboard,and now I am not really sure which one I should buy. Please help.

Why would you want the extra 4 pins if there's no where to use them? And is the 14-pin adapter wired the same as the correct 10-pin adapter?
