Adapter for USB external hard drive to eSata port on computer

I have a USB 3.0 external hard drive that I want to connect to an eSata port on my computer. Does anyone know of an adapter that will allow me to do this?
I have found numerous adapters that allow connecting an eSata hard drive to a USB 3.0 port on the computer, but, none of these adapters will work in reverese (USB 3.0 hard drive to eSata port).
I've looked everywhere and can't locate one. Any advise would be very appreciated.

There are a lot or adaptors listed here and most likly you have seen these but I'm going to list them because I don't actually know what you have found.

Many thanks INZONE. I've seen all of these, but, they won't do what I need to do. The do the opposite.
All of these are to connect an esata device to a USB 3.0 port on a computer. I need to connect a USB 3.0 external hard drive to an esata port on a computer. In summary all go esata to USB 3.0, I need to go USB 3.0 to esata. I researched each product and found none are reversable to go from USB 3.0 to esata.

The only adapter I can find that will do it is an internal PCI card (not PCI express) with 2 USB 3.0 ports made by Sig. Found some tech posts indicating the problem is the PCI bus doesn't have enough power for USB 3.0. It works, but at a maximum transmission speed of 1.8 Gbit/s. This is still better than USB 2.0, but, far below USB 3.0 potential. If I can't find an adaper I'll most likeky go with one of these as it's still faster than USB 2.0

I don't think that is possible. Think about it, SATA is only for connecting HDD storage, but USB is for other things as well (TV tuner, printer, camera). SATA just won't handle the communication of USB device.

They are not reversible as i mentioned in your other thread(you should not make 3 threads of the same topic) on this topic because the bridge chip would need a power source, something E-sata lacks(this makes the thing much more complex requiring a power adapter as well and since USB3 is not just for hard drives there are many other issues).

You are still best with the pci or pci-e card(you need help with finding the pci-e on let me know)

Many thanks for the reply. I can't insrall a pci-e adapter card as my motherboard (Asus P6T Deluxe V2) doesn't have a pci-e slot. It only supports pciex 4 and pci-e 2.0 x16. I haven't given up yet on finding an adapter but, all indicatinions indicate I'll have to go with the PCI adapter.

PCI-E X1 will fit and work in the X4 slot above your video card.

My x1 sound card is in a x4 slot and works just fine. Asus even has the heatsink thin there so your card will not hit it.

the bottom 2 slots should work as well.

Did you look at the www.Brando site? They have a lot of different adaptors and I thought there was a combination of adaptors and cables that would work.

The problem is that is not a converter at all. It is made for special motherboard ports that are a e-sata+usb 2.0 port to begin with. It just separates them so you can use the e-sata and usb for different devices.

The usb/sata port (called by some MB makers as "SATA on the go" or "Powered SATA") is made for 2.5 inch hard drive with a cable allowing them to get power from the USB port and data from sata. This gives speed without needing an extra cable for power. Those ports also function as a USB or e-SATA port for normal devices.

This board has those special plugs. as do many more. Look at the Yellow e-SATA ports on it(they are USB/SATA).

Did you ever find a solution? I have a laptop with only USB 2 and an E Sata port. I have a USB 3 WD passport that I would love to have transferring at faster then USB 2, but am having the same problems as you describe. If you had any luck, I would appreciate any information you could provide.

Anyone ever find this device?

I have a Drobo that is USB, but it gets disconnected over time. This is the problem with some USB devices and ports, over a long data transfer, they will disconnect.

eSata seems to be more stable, so if I could connect my USB3 Drobo to an eSata port, this would be great. I have an older Drobo S that has both ports, and using the eSata port is more reliable.

Now, if I could convert the USB3 from my NEW Drobo to an eSata port, I would have that reliability back.

Do, please don't list USB connectors that take an eSata port and feed to to USB3. What I need is something that takes an incoming USB connector and swaps it to eSATA.

I connect the Esata III end to my computer and connect the usb 3 end to a usb 3 female to female adaptor and then connect to a USB 3 flash drive (or external usb 3 portable storage drive) . Would this data transfer function at the speeds of USB 3 or would it even work at all ?

The USB3S2ESATA3 cannot be used in the manner you are inquiring about. This is not a bi-directional able and only intended for use when connecting an eSATA drive to a USB port.

We do offer one cable that may work for you though. See link below. If you have a Powered eSATA port this will be suitable for your needs. If the eSATA port is not powered then unfortunately we do not have a solution for you.
