The adapter has to be active. The 1050ti does not output any analog content, and VGA requires analog to work. So an active adaptor is required to turn a digital signal into an analog signal.

Active converters can add latency, but beyond that no other performance drawbacks.
Ironsounds :
Hello... it will add latency(extra time) to display what is processed... because of the added hardware/circuit path... the GPU will run the same.

Will an active HDMI to VGA adapter affect the performance of a gtx 1050 ti
Herc08 :
First off, do not create multiple threads. And as long as it is active, yes it will work just fine without taking a hit.
However, you are converting that digital signal back into analog which will look funny to you. You may want to consider another monitor, at least one that has DVI.

No latency from user input to the your eye seeing what you did. But it's probably not as noticable, unless you have a very keen eye. And by this, I mean being able to see the difference between 144hz and 165hz, which a lot of people cannot do.

Yep, pretty much any display adapter works as long as it fits one of the slots. 1050 Ti has a HDMI slot, so you're okay.
