Adapters.... Nvidia surround Active or Passive?

Hi, ive recently upgraded to a GTX 970, amazing purchase!
this card obviouslt has dvi hdmi and 3 dp

I plan on running 3 1080p monitors on 2d surround with Asus VC239H 's using the dp

My problem is which adapters to get for the 3 displayports to these monitors considering my dvi and hdmi are used up by accessory monitors.

I want to have all 3 surround monitors going through displayport, as these monitors are hdmi and dvi, not dp...

can i use cheaper passive adapters e.g. - http://amzn.to/1LtMIGr
or
do i have to use more expensive active adapters as im 14 and im on a low budget?

to sum i would like
displayport ->(active or passive?)->hdmi x3

just confirmed in a conference call with evga and nvidia - passive adapters work fine for 2d surround on 3 1080p dp -> hdmi monitors
