Question Adaptive-Sync question

Hello.
I plan to buy Philips 222S1AE/00. The monitor have Adaptive-Sync.
My question is can this Adaptive-Sync work together with NVIDIA RTX GPU (4070) .
In different sites I read different opinions about that.There is people saying that there will be stuttering and lag during gaming because Adaptive-Sync and NVIDIA GPU don't work together.
I think that is wrong but still want people with more knowledge to say is this true or not.

This display lacks both AMD Freesync and Nvidia G-sync, so if we're being honest it's a poor choice for a gaming display. If you have an Nvidia graphics card you REALLY want a monitor that specifically has G-sync support or one that has G-sync compatible Freesync support. Saying it has "adaptive sync" is like telling the tire salesmen that your card "has tires" when he asks what size they are. It does, and it's a fact, but it's hardly relevant to the conversation or the required outcome.

NVIDIA's "G-SYNC Compatible" is their branding for supporting VESA Adaptive Sync, so basically it should work. You should be able to set it up in the NVIDIA Control Panel under "Set up G-SYNC."

However, since the specs on the product page don't specify a range of Hz, my guess is Adaptive Sync turns off if the game goes below 60 FPS since this is typical for budget monitors. But being above that should be easy for a 4070, especially at 1080p.

IDK, I know it's supposed to work that way, but every monitor I've tried with a 20 series or newer Nvidia card that only had adaptive sync, and did not have either actual G-sync or Freesync, I could never get it to work properly. I'm sure I might have been able to eventually but if it's that problematic to deal with I'm not inclined to put more time into it. I'd just as soon buy a monitor that is simply and plainly compatible and move on. May have just been the models I was dealing with or the fact that it was somewhat early in the days of adaptive sync too.

I'm under the impression that all those commodity <$200 monitors just slap on Adaptive Sync or FreeSync just to have another bullet point on their features list, despite the actual implementation of it being to the point of "why did they even bother?"

It's like HDR400. I don't think that should exist, but I'm sure a lot of people lobbied VESA to make it a thing just so they could add fluff to the spec sheet.

One more question - the monitor has DisplayPort 1.2 while the RTX 4070 has DisplayPort 1.4. What kind of DisplayPort cable to use - 1.2 or 1.4 ?
 
And as far as the cables go, there is no such thing as a cable "version". There are no 1.2 or 1.4 displayport cables. There are ONLY "displayport cables", although you do want to buy one that is VESA certified for the resolution you wish to run, for example, for an 8k display you want to make sure it is certified and marked as DP8k. Mostly though, especially at 4k or lower resolutions, any good quality VESA certified displayport cable will work with ANY version of Displayport. Same goes for HDMI.

Just because a new standard is released does not automatically mean that an otherwise high quality certified cable is suddenly not going to work with that port just because it is a newer standard. At least, that has been the case so far but as I said some extremely high bandwidth configurations like 8k might require a cable with a higher level certification but it has nothing to do with the standard version. It has to do with resolution and bandwidth, or special features in some cases especially in future releases.

So just get any good quality VESA certified Displayport cable and you should be fine. Same for HDMI.
