Hello,

My external HDD ADATA CH94 640GB stopped working. It shows in MyComputer but without storage memory. I tried testdisk without success, where everything looked just fine (STATUS OK on boot and particions. Than I used this :

But after that my disk is still broken and in testdisk shows strange things:

NONE shows Particions in analyze OK, but before video tip it was Intel/PC and shows same things now it shows this:

What should I do?

I am registered but this popup when I tried to post video and image.

Hey there, Tom!

This is very unfortunate to hear! 🙁 Can you please check Disk Management ( http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/ht/disk-management-windows-7.htm ) and share the status of your HDD there?
I'd also strongly recommend to test the drive with a diagnostics utility to see more details about the health and SMART status of the drive. Here's a thread that can give you an idea on the utilities you can use: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
I hope you have a backup of the data that's on that drive, because it seems like you have some damages on it.

Keep me posted with the results.

If you need something else write it down :)

Okay, the caution in the diagnostics utility is not so bad, it shows you have only 4 bad sectors. Which is a sign to keep a backup of your data from the drive somewhere else as well! As for the name of the drive, it might as well be the right one. You can never say what's inside the enclosure.
Everything in Disk Management seems to be normal, no corrupted file system or anything wrong really.
But it shows in "My Computer" without the drive letter or the capacity, right?
So what you need to try and fix this, is re-assigning the drive letter of the external drive in Disk Management. Changing the drive letter might get your HDD recognized properly. Here's a tutorial from our KB that you can use: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=QFDPVI

Let me know how it goes! :)
