You really shouldn't, your most likely going to reduce the latency and probably wont see any benefit. Why do you want to OC the ram? Normally if the manufacturer wanted you to OC the ram they would have provided a XMP profile with all the right timings.

Things may have changed from back when I OC more often, but normally you would need to OC the cpu and the ram. FSB normally would match each other. I would Google overclocking guides but again I dont think your going to see a very useful improvement. Did you check your bios for XMP profiles?

because i see big different from 2666mhz vs 3000 mhz i was wanted to get the 3000 mhz that time but was out of stock so i gewt the 2666 mhz and reason why i bought a z370 board to make nice oc with the rams and i use i5 8400 + gtx 1070,, and its a bit difference between the speeds like you get more 20 fps which is nice

^ no way on this planet moving from 2666 to 3000 will give you +20fps.

The difference is at best 5% & that will be in limited scenarios.

I'll read an artical, blog.. whatever for anything showing that level of improvement and if so... the MF messed up bad and you're just fixing the defect. Maybe you saw a full system OC and the CPU, RAM and GPU together gained +20 fps. Running DDR3 at 1866 CL5 and 3200 CL17, while the second may be faster the first completes a full cycle sooner and in turn may move more data. So be careful getting caught in the "whoes number is higher" treadmill. Lastly, I certainly believe if you learn the right way maybe you could OC everything possible in your machine at get good fps boosts but you should start reading about it and test on your own machine then come here if you have problems or need assistance. Again it's been a while since I've had to do any of this ever since XMP profiles became a thing.
