Question Adblock Plus on YouTube ?

Adblock has stopped fully working in YouTube, now you get a blank screen when there's an advert for its duration, is there a fix?

Give them time to update adblock. Takes time to figure out problem and then prepare the fix.

but a couple days is minimal time to figure out what google changed and how to combat the changes.

You might want to seriously consider switching to uBlock Origin. It's withstood Google's attempts quite well so far. You might also consider adding Privacy Badger as well. For the record, I'm using Firefox so your mileage may vary.

other than the occasional short video i don't watch youtube on pc. i do use ublock origin but don't know how it does blocking the ads.

i use New Pipe to view long videos so i get no ads. it is a mobile app but with bluestacks i can use it full screen on my pc no problem.

i'll have to try a long podcast to see how it works in FF with ublock origin. if it blocks 100% of the ads, i'd likely use it again. i gave up with the cat and mouse game when i found new pipe and have just used that ever since. not seen a youtube ad in any way in a few years now

Ive been using Firefox with Ublock Origin and Privacy Badger and they've been blocking 100% of YouTube's pop-up ads for several years now. Don't know how other browsers are faring.

YT is apparently attempting to make a stand again about ad blockers in general. About the time I read an article about it, it happened to me. In the past it has tended to be somewhat temporary when similar attempts have been made. My thoughts would be in response to backlash or lessened viewership.

I noted somewhat recently that things like the mini player, playback resolutions and such as that have been getting turned on and off or changed a bit. YT offers a premium service subscription. If you watch a lot of YT it isn't terribly expensive compared to other similar services. It is completely ad free and includes the higher resolution/bitrate options on some videos. I am not sure if it also includes the "TV" thing...meaning to say that I signed up for the free month and don't have a lot of need for that aspect of the service. They have a pretty cool music app that is part of it, but actually like my curated Pandora playlists better.

Anywho, rambling along to say that it will probably resolve soon enough if the effort is the same as in the past.

Yup, I got the warnings about 2 weeks ago (first time for me) They only lasted 2 or 3 days then "POOF!" they were gone. I know the uBlock Origin devs are on top of things.

I use ABP and the issue presented at first with a pop up saying I needed to whitelist. Ignored that a few times and then the pop up stayed in place while telling me that I needed to disable or whitelist.

Hmmm. I use both Adblock Plus and uBlockOrigin and at first, that solution worked for AdblockPlus but maybe it no longer does and the reason I have no isuses is due to uBlockOrigin fixing it and taking over.

uBlock seems to do the trick. is there any way to turn off AdBlock fully without uninstalling it?

you should be able to just disable the add-on in the settings. or even just disable it for that site.

from what i am reading, youtube is starting to block users who are using an adblock so you might start seeing more issues despite swapping add-ons.

they are limiting and blocking all over the world from what i am seeing. so keep that in mind if you continue to have issues.

As others have said, Ublock Origin is working wonders. I have had to manually update it once or twice (on Chrome at least), but it's otherwise held up thus far.
