Add RAM to old ME computer, help

I have a computer from 2001 that runs Windows ME. I use it to play old games. It has 128 mb of ram, but I'd like to give it some more. I'm uncertain what specifications I need to use in acquiring additional ram. I think the computer can handle up to 512 mb.

The chip that's in there has these things written on it...

Hyundai Korea 01
PC100U-322-620
HYM71V16655 AT8-S AA
128MB Sync 100Mhz CL3

On a sticker with a barcode it says:
040195 Compaq 232011
P/N 323013-001

And...one part of the ram states:
Hyundai 124A
HY57V28820AT-S
Korea

It's 128MB PC100 SDRAM. If it's a Compaq, you can research the model #, and it will tell you how much RAM, and the number of slots. If you need someone who works on PC's a lot, they might have some laying around. I had a Ziploc full of SDRAM a few years ago that I finally donated it to a church.

I previously purchased a stick of 128MB PC100 CL3 SDRAM DIMM Memory and added it to my computer. The computer doesn't recognize it. How do I make it know it has more ram, and does the slot position matter?

Does your board support more than 128mb is the big question. If the answer is yes then try putting the new stick in the main slot and see if it boots. If it does the memory is good. Next try booting with a single stick in the alternative slot and try again. If it boots then your memory or controller aren't playing nice.
