I recently bought some more RAM (8gb) to add to the existing 8gbs I have. After installing it the RAM led on the mobo turned on and nothing would boot. After taking the new RAM out everything worked again. As far as I can tell they should work together, the mobo says it supports ddr3 up to 1600mhz which is the same as both my old and new RAM. Any suggestions?

This is the mobo: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131990

The old RAM: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057Q4ADU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The new RAM: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-240-Pin-Channel-Memory/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1498090681&sr=1-5&keywords=ram+ddr3+vengeance

From my understanding, when running dual channel memory, if you're going to fill all the slots they need to be the same exact RAM.

Try removing your old RAM, and just use the new RAM and see if it will work, if it does, that would mean that you would need the exact same RAM as your old RAM if you want to keep using the old set.

Also make sure that you have them in the correct slots, they should be color coded, (A and C are the same and B and D are the same) make sure you use the same 2 sticks in A and C, and the same sticks for B and D. Good luck.

simple steps
1.remove the old ram from mobo, put in the new ram, if it boots you need to buy the same exact kit if you want 16GB.
2.remove the old ram from mobo, put in the new ram, if it start but it won't boot, either your new ram or 2/4 of your dimm slots are broken.
Some board that have 4 dimm slots, two of them will support dual channel, another two is supporting 2 single channel.
