i recently bought a dell latitude e6410. running win7, and current upgrade to win10 keeps failing. have 2nd HD caddy and 240gb SSD coming in the mail. contacted Microsoft, got them to load win10 iso to flash drive, complete with key.

once i install new SSD, I'd like to boot from flash, and do clean win 10 install on SSD. assuming all this works, what do i do to remove win 7 from HDD, to clear space, prevent it from loading/being operational without affecting new win10 install? sorry if any of this is confusing.

long story short.. loading new version of windows on 2nd hard drive (clean install), want to remove old version from old HDD and have cpu auto boot off SSD, being used in optical drive w caddy. thanks

Solution
before you install Windows10 on the SSD drive make sure to disconnect the HDD.

reconnect the HDD after Win10 is installed.

once you boot in to Win10 off the SSD, use DISKPART to clean the HDD.

then use the Disk Manager to initialize and format the HDD.
