Hello,
The motherboard I have is a Giga-Byte GA-Z97-SLI
I have two 8 gb ram sticks: 2400 MHZ DDR3 1.65v
and
I also have two 4 gb ram sticks: 1600 MHZ DDR3 1,5v

I had them working at first, I had the 8gigers in the first 2 slots and the 4gigers in the last 2 slots going from left to right.

Now I have only 16gb, the second and fourth slot are only being used. Is there a manual on how to properly place ram of different gb? thanks
Joe

Solution
Try the 8GB sticks in slots 1-3 boot to BIOS and set to 1600 9-9-9-25 and the DRAM voltage to 1.56, save exit and shut down, then try adding the the 4GBs to slots 2-4 - if the all play you'll have 24GB all running in dual channel mode

then why did it work before?

Solution

from left to right:
2x8gb & 2x4gb. Working perfectly.
I read that slot #1 starts on the right.
Its working now,
