adding 2X8gb to 2X4

Hey, searched for an answer but just had a bunch of 1X + 1X questions and i'm not sure if the rules change when you have 4 slots.

I have 2X4gb RAM in the 1 and 3 slots(blue), 2 and 4 are empty

but playing space engineers i've managed to use all that up on my ship and need more ram in order to avoid crashing.
I plan to add 2X8 gb

into the 2 and 4 slots (the black ones)

I would just like to confirm that this will work and give an end result of 24gb of ram. For those who don't want to look at links both sets of RAM are "240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)." Same brand, just different amount of ram

Yes. 4gb's in channel 1/3 and 8gb's in channel 2/4. keep it that way.

Yes it should work.

You certainly CAN get it to work, you may have to loosen timings or up voltages, but you'll be able to get it running, with a little bit of work.
