Adding 3rd party recovery partition to boot menu

I have an old WinXP PC (hobby PC) and a copy of ShadowProtect Desktop (drive imaging software). I would like to create a separate partition, copy the iso of the ShadowProtect recovery environment, and add an entry for it to the boot menu, so that I can experiment with the WinXP partition, and restore a drive image without needing the separate CD/DVD.

I can create a partition and copy the contents of the disk. How would I add the entry to the boot menu? Ideally, I'd like that partition to be hidden (or without a drive letter) within WinXP so that it cannot be easily modified. Thank

What are you doing with Windows XP that you feel you may need to restore a drive image so handily? Might I suggest you try using a virtual machine where you can mess with Win XP to your heart's content and not mess up a functioning OS.

Right now, nothing in particular. I am aware of the VM approach. Right now, I just want to prepare an old PC (that I would otherwise just trash). I'm thinking ahead and would like a method for recovery if my CD drive were to break. There is no option to boot from USB.
