[SOLVED] adding a 4gm ddr3 ram to 4+4 dual channel system

hi
i have a core i5 4670k loaded on a z87k motherboard which has 4+4 ram ddr3 1600 already(total slots are 4 which 2 of them are used for 4 + 4 gm ram )
is it possible that i add a single 4gb of ram ddr3 1600mhz in one of free slots and make my pc to run at 12 of ram ?
my main use is for gaming

Yes if the new memory works with the old memory it might and might not.

It would be safer to buy a 2x8gb set and sell your 2x4.
