Info Adding a new SATA Drive/Device Causes System Drive (with Windows 10) to NOT Boot Up, Unrecognized SATA Drive/Device.

Starting with ONLY ONE SATA device connected will boot up the system drive (with Windows 10) again. Then shut down system and add one SATA device at a time. You can see the process of elimination at work here 😂 It scared me when this happened!! What a pain!! 😂

It might happen if that new SATA device has not been properly partitioned/formatted and not made a bootable device.

It might happen if that new SATA device has not been properly partitioned/formatted and not made a bootable device.

It's not about the drive being partitioned/formatted as BIOS cannot even recognize it.

Just the normal message that it can't find a system since the BIOS cannot even recognize the drive as if it's not connected.

Either give precise error message or show screenshot.

Adding another storage device can change boot priority.
You have to go into BIOS and check boot priority settings.

I've already logged into the BIOS and it does not see the drive. This posting is for information only since I've already resolved it. (See resolution on my first response)

That's interesting, not sure if I could replicate it but I might try it one day.

BTW what motherboard do you have?

You didn't give us any information about your system. You didn't provide precise error message.
It's rather hard to guess theoretically possible causes/issues.

Adding secondary drive to cause primary drive to not being detected can happen, if secondary drive is M.2 drive.
On some motherboards using M.2 drive can disable some onboard sata ports.
