Hello everyone,

I am installing a second SSD on my Asus B550-Plus motherboard and am wanting to put it in the first M.2 slot where my current SSD is. This is my first time doing this so I am unsure if there is anything special I need to do or can I just switch the existing SSD to the second M.2 slot and put the new one in it's place with no issue?
I have already confirmed that both SSD's will work in the slots I want them to go into.

Thank you for your time.

What are the make and models of the SSD's you plan to buy and the SSD you currently have? BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time? You might not need to move your SSD's to begin with, perhaps.

Move the old ssd to the new slot and test.

Hello!

The new ssd is a WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive with Heatsink and the old one is a ADATA SX82000PNP 500gb. My current bios version is American Megatrends inc. 0805, 7/1/2020.

I am wanting to put the new one in the current one's m.2 slot because it is 64gbs and pci 4, while the secondary slot is 32gbs and pci 3. So, since the newer one is a larger storage and newer I wanted it to be my primary storage with the smaller one being secondary.

Move the old ssd to the new slot and test.
Thank you! That is the plan, I just wanted to make sure there isn't something I should do prior to this.
