Adding a switch to existing network? Why does download speed slow down

Question about adding switch to existing network--
Current Setup
Comcast Modem ->Apple Time Capsule -> Network Switch (Basement) -> Another Network Switch (Located in bedroom -- This switch is really an old wireless router acting as an access point).

My question specifically is why I have a sig drop in the download speed with the addition of the switch.

If i do Comcast Router->Apple Time Capsule->Switch-> Directly to Computer I get the following from speedtest.net
Download 171.5 Mbps/sec Upload 11.94 Mbps/sec

If however I do
Comcast router -> Network Time Capsule -> Switch -> Switch -> Computer,
I get the following
Download - 93.46Mbps/sec
Upload - 11.88 Mbps/sec

Obviously the upload speed is capped, however why does the download speed significantly change?

Should I be wiring differently?

The old wireless router connected as an AP is a WGR614v9. After finding the documentation -- which is difficult -- you are correct -- it only has 10/100 ports. I guess I found the answer. I guess its time to upgrade.
