Adding a Video card

I'm assuming that if I add a video card I can not use the onboard video from the mother board. Is this correct.

Explanation: I'm trying to add another 2 DVI monitors to my present computer. I already have 1 DVI and 1 VGA. These are part of the motherboard. If I add a new card with 2 more DVI will I be able to use the 2 on the board to make 4?

There are driver hacks and such that you can do to accomplish this, but it's not necessary. You can just connect the two monitors to the new graphics card.

Thanks for the answer however I want to have 3 to 4 monitors. So by adding one card with 2 dvi ports won't do it, right?
