Adding hdd?

I have an Abit KV7 motherboar with an AMD Socket A processor. I've had a yellow exclamation on the primary ide channel for a few months...

Anyhow I went to upgrade my hdd from the current WD 40 gig IDE to a new WD160 IDE gig. My idea was to clone it using Acronis. However the BIOS won't even recognize nor will Windows the new hdd.

Any ideas on what I can do?

I'm running Windows XP home.

How do you have the 2 hard drives jumpered? Don't know if the old hard drive is set to "Master". If so, set the other drive to "Slave".

I have the old drive set to cs and the new drive set to cs. I was told to put the new drive on the end cable and the old drive on the middle of the ide cable. Is this wrong?

Try having just the new HD hooked up and see if it's recognized.

According to the KV7 manual, if you want to install 2 hard drives, they must be set to Master and Slave. The master has the black connector hooked to it and the slave has the grey connector.
