I have Gskill 8gb 2x4 DDR3 1600 CL11

https://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL-PC3-12800-RipjawsX-9-9-9-24/dp/B004I763AW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487209545&sr=8-1&keywords=8gb+ddr3+gskill

I want to add another 8gb, preferably 8x1 and this kingston 1866 CL10 is available near me

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-1600MHz-DDR3/dp/B00J8E92I0/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1487209408&sr=1-2&keywords=8gb%2Bddr3&th=1

Would there be any problems i should be concerned about regarding different frequencies and latencies?

Also, i always read that 2x4 is better than 8x1 but is it really such a big difference?
I need the last slot for future upgrade and i also don't feel like removing the Noctua D14 😀

Thanks in advance :)

Nothing is stopping you from making such combinations. There are no guarantees it will work at all or how it will work. Rated speeds of any memory are only guaranteed to be obtainable only in the kit it is sold in.

You may need to relax the timings and/or frequencies in order to get two sets of memory to work. Another option you may need to do is increase the dram voltages or reducing the CPU multiplier.

Since such a combination has never been tested before, you are free to do your own compatibility testing.

I've done intense research on the "is it better" category and from what I seen there's no difference, and if there is a difference it's barely noticeable. Now mixing and matching I have done before and I would never recommend it even to an experienced OCer, I've had it screw up hard drives! (Could have just been a faulty hard drive... but the chances of it croaking after I mixed memory sticks?)

Honestly if you want to upgrade safely without screwing somethin up badly just buy the same ram.. I've seen posts of people saying not to get 2 kits of 2x8gb etc saying it screws stuff up is lying, I had 2x4gb x2 kits and ran them for 8 years with no issues. Now I upgraded and the memory I got came to me DOA 🙁 so please use memtest to test any memory you buy before you start messing with stuff! Lol
