adding more ram to low end laptop

hi i have 4gb ram and intel hd graphics ( i know it sucks) i want to ask you if adding 4 gb more ram would increase gaming performance?

cpu:2.40 ghz x64 os

Probably not no, the best upgrade you can do with old laptops is replacing the Hard drive with an SSD. You will notice a overall perfomace increase but gaming not so much.

Fair enough, the rule applys still to new laptops. An SSD will improve overall performance. Does the laptop have an expresscard slot? http://blog.dk.sg/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/dsc03867a.jpg if so you can set up an external GPU for the laptop (its not that cheap to do though)
