[SOLVED] Adding non-RAID SSD to computer with RAID

Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked - I did some searching but didn't find a post that matched my question. Our workstation has the following setup:

ASUS Z10PE-D16WS motherboard
  1. Samsung 970 boot NVME
  2. 2 x Samsung 850 EVO in a RAID 1 array.
I'd like to add an additional SSD that is a separate storage drive - not part of the RAID array. Is this doable? Is it as simple as connecting and powering the drive to the motherboard and powering on the computer? We have mission critical data on the RAID array, so the last thing I want to do is go in blind and cause a big oops where the RAID 1 array somehow gets lost.

Thanks!

This RAID 1 also has a known good backup routine?

Adding another drive should be no issue.

But "mission critical data " always needs a solid backup. RAID 1 is not that.

Thanks for the response. My guess is that the RAID 1 isn't being backed up, but I'll have to check. I appreciate the heads up on that.
