[SOLVED] Adding RAM slows down PC

I recently added 8GB of RAM to my Dell desktop PC for a total of 16GB, and now it seems to be running slower. Games like Skyrim that used to run with ultra graphics settings are having choppy frame rates. I tried taking the new memory out, but it was still slower than before. I put it back in again, and still no change. I'm pretty sure the RAM is the right speed for my computer (2400MHz). The memory was manufactured by Dell, and it does not appear to have chips in it. We also did not update the BIOS before adding the memory. I don't know if that's worth noting. I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be, or how I could get the computer back to normal. I'd like to see if there's a way to fix it without completely resetting the computer.

Solution
Memory is guaranteed in the form sold. Other combinations you decide to make have no guarantee to be compatible together. You are free to do your own compatibility testing with no guarantees.

Setting memory parameters in BIOS to manufacturers specifications after clearing CMOS may help restore performance.
