I have an HP Pavilion HPE 8-1010, intel 2nd gen i5, 8gb ddr3 ram, 1 tb SATA hd and am trying to install second 80 gb hd. When I connect the 80gb the computer freezes at the starting windows screen(win 7 home premium 64-bit)...in BIOS only the 1tb hd is shown...while swapping cables around I noticed that the BIOS only detects one hd, which ever one is connected by itself is detected, once both are connected BIOS detects the one connected in lowest SATA position (ie SATA 1 vs SATA 2)...I tried switching the SATA emulation in BIOS from AHCI to IDE at which point both hd are deteted in BIOS but the computer does not load windows...makes it to the same starting windows screen only it restarts immeditely after that and then wants to launch start-up repair, which when run does not fix anything...the 80gb hd works in another computer and when connected to this computer via usb...I know both hds are in good working condition with no failures and did flash and update BIOS and problem still exists
