Adding SSD with already installed HDD.

If you only have a HDD for your stuff, how do you add a SSD for boot and programs.

I only want to move my OS and programs... How do I do that?

I am actually doing a new build.
It's pretty low-end so no SSD. At least not for now.
I'll just get a v300 120GB as they are pretty cheap, later on.
I just want to know how to move the OS and programs to the SSD.

Most of the cloning applications are all or nothing. You don't get to pick and choose what gets moved. A few, like the latest version of the Samsung Data Migration tool, allow you to exclude whatever is in Libraries. Doc, Music, etc. Other than that, everything.

If this is a whole new system, do a clean install on the new SSD in the new system. Trying to move an OS that was already installed in one system to a new may end up not working at all.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It is always recommended to do a clean install, often required.

And that particular SSD is cheap for a reason. It is one of the crappier ones out there.
