I was looking to add thermal pads to my Dell AMD 6800 XT. I want to put some between the back plate and back of the board. And I was thinking about changing the ones on the memory under the heat sink. Has anyone done this? And if so what thickness of pad dis you use?

Thermal pads are non-conductive so you can put it where you want.

I've used thermal pads for sound-bridge and north-bridge chips on motherboards for many years because it's easily removable, mostly 1.5mm or 2mm of thickness.

is there a temp issue? what I am getting at is if not why would you risk damaging your card? while unlikely it does happen and it would be heartbreaking for you to ruin your card for nothing. I would only do it if absolutely needed
