I'm upgrading to an AMD 5800K, it will arrive from Newegg eventually. But I was wondering if my current cooling is good enough. I have the stock heatsink (This), but the fan has been replaced with a krypton KR01 fan onto the stock heatsink.

The CPU is 100W and the fan and heatsink are rated for 95W. Can I get away with this? I read that wattage isn't a good indicator of heat. Will my setup properly cool my CPU, maybe eventually with overclocking?

Thank you.

Some OEM's use a wierd proprietary way to mount cpu coolers and indeed somtimes an Intel way when actually using an AMD cpu, so don't think the OP is lying or unaware of ho things are mounted.
Whether that means that the bought cpu cooler will actually fit he will just have to see. Can depend on whether the backplate can be reused or removed etc.

An example,

but that wouldn't stop a cooler from offering both AMD & Intel variations.
or stop a user from choosing a different cooler that offers the mounting they need.

my point is that it doesn't matter what your motherboard supports.
if it is any type of industry standard there will be aftermarket coolers that will fit.

One take a good look at that video.

it is the cooler itself that will provide the backplate and mounting accessories.
If you looked at that vid would you have seen he can't take the backplate off. So having own backplate with cooler is kinda pointless in that situation.

if this is some odd type of OEM proprietary Intel motherboard than your AMD CPU will not be able to be installed anyway.
Is otherway around, is an proprietary AMD board with Intel spaced cpu cooler mounting holes, so his AMD cpu fits fine, he can just not use AMD mounting kits. He can only hope that what Intel cooler he buys will fit using the backplate offered and wil have enough mounting pressure. maybe if he's lucky and the current backplate comes off he can use the backplate that comes with said cooler for Intel.
