Question Adjust resolution

I have an 22inch HP L2245wg.
The maximum resolution of the device is 1680x1050.

Under both Windows 7's screen resolution menu and the videocard's own control panel software I can not select the resolution of 1680x1050.
I can select 1600x1200, but then the moniter give an error message that the resolution is "out of range"

OS : Windows 7
GPU : AMD 5870
Moniter : HP L 2245wg - connected through VGA cable.

Could anyone offer me a solution?

Yes, I meant 1680x1050 and using a VGA cable as stated in my original post.

try the hdmi port? try reconnecting the vga cable while the computer is on
