Hey so I'v been dealing with an issue where my video card will crash playing CS:GO, Overwatch, and WoW. Both my primary and secondary monitor blackout and I need to alt+ctrl+del and end the process (sound also starts looping).

Every time this happens I get a notification after I end the process saying my drivers crashed and have recovered. I'm running the latest AMD crimson 16.5.1.

I think it's a cooling issue or PSU issue causing the problem but I'd just like to here someone else's take on it before I start spending some money to fix it.

System specs:

AMD Radeon 200 series
8g DDR5
AMD Phenom II X4 945 3GHz quad core
Corsair 750 TX series 750W 12v

The CPU and PSU are from 2010.

Any feedback or suggestions would be awesome, thanks!

Which R9 200 series do you have?

Yes, search the forums for problems with the Crimson drivers causing fan speed issues. My advice is go back and try the 15.11.1 Beta Catalyst drivers and make sure your fan speed is set in the Overdrive settings to allow the fans to go up to 100%. You can also try that in the Crimson drivers, but i have had many weird visual glitches with Crimson, and everything is fine with 15.11.1 Catalyst Beta (I have two R9 290's in Crossfire)

I just saw your post and am having the same problem with League of Legends and Kerbal Space programs (and most steam titles). I am on that same Hotfix 16.5.1 driver and get the 'driver recovered' message. Also, I checked my PSU voltages in the UEFI and they're all in tolerance. So, what I think i'll do is roll back to an older AMD driver; i'll comment here if it works.

Just commenting so that you're aware there is someone in the same boat. Often with problems like this, if you are not the only victim, it can rule out hardware issues.

Alright, so I was on AMD driver 16.150.2401.1002, which I believe to be the hotfix update. I rolled back, through the Windows Device Manager (DM), to 16.150.2211.0 and played Kerbal Space Program, which has consistently crashed. This time it went a step farther and gave me a BSOD with the System_service_Exception.

I decided to go and find a past driver on the AMD site, 15.301.1101. I uninstalled the display driver all together in the DM and the block disappeared. I then extracted the 15.301 driver into C:/AMD where I saw two other drivers. But nothing showed up in DM and after a minute, for some reason I'm not aware of, my screen went black, came back up and the DM had replaced the 16.150.2401.1002 for some reason.

Where am I going wrong? How do I replace a file? How do I find the map of where this driver is and replace it with one that I want my PC to use?
