Admin privileges gone

After setting up the Christmas tree the other night our breaker was thrown. After starting Windows up I no longer have admin privileges. Worse yet, no user does. Also, from my log in screen only one user is shown (the previous admin account). If I type other users names and passwords I can access them.

Since I can't change anyone's privileges above my own, what do I do?

doubt this is would have been what happened, it sounds like you have a virus or some "scareware" was installed, prob best to backup any information and format and start again!

After doing some research it sounds like it might be a trojan related to "userinit.exe," but I'm not too sure. The power failure was simply the first time I had restarted in almost a week, so more of a catalyst than a cause.

I'll report back after I find my install disc.

I had to wipe it. Too bad all my back-ups were on my bricked external. What a month...
