Hi All

Would like to know how to administer folders and files within a shared drive on a windows server 2012. This drive is being shared to multiple users but i am trying to change the name on on e of the folders but it is coming up with the error "...file in it is open in another program" I do not want to restart the server but want to kick users off the folder that they are using so i can do what i need to do.? Please let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

Regards

Hey Guys issue resolved. So on windows server 2012 right click on start and click on computer manager then click on shared folders and from the list choose open files and you will see every user who is opening a file live.
From memory, "Share & Storage Management" should be the thing you need to kick people off. I don't have a Server 2012 machine to hand right now to check but if you search for that on the start screen, you should be able to work it out. (I think there's an "open files" link on the right of the management console.)
