If you can't open Acrobat (not reader) Pro 7 in Win 8.1 simply go to Settings, Change PC Settings and Log OUT of your Microsoft account.

I have searched everywhere, being directed to do a lot of confusing and scary sounding things: change registry entries, uninstall stuff I need and to have to reinstall, deleting security updates, etc. THIS works. Fast and easy. You WILL lose access (temporarily) to MS OneDrive and other things, but you can always sign back into your MS account when you're done using Adobe Acrobat.
