Hello!

I'm thinking about buying a WD Blue Caviar 1TB Hard drive (namely the WD10EZEX) but I'm running Windows XP (32bit).

It says that you need to set a jumper in the hard drive in order to make it compatible with win XP.

My question is wether this will bring me the optimum performance from this hard drive or is it a "second choice" option.

Second question is wether this is safe? Is it as safe as if I was running on win 7?

Thanks

I'd use the WD align tool instead of the jumper, that way if you ever have to move the drive to win 7 or win 8, the drive will already be aligned correctly.

WD Align is intended to be run on your Western Digital Advance Format drive WITHOUT a jumper installed across pins 7-8.
