The title says it all. (I have Windows Vista SP2 x64 Home Premium, btw)

I'm not a big expert but I got an error (80004002) while updating with Windows Update in 2011. I had just installed Advanced System Care but I didn't suspect anything.

I tried LOTS of fixes (including the one where you have to re-register in "cmd" all ".dll" files). None of them worked.

In march 2012, exactly 03/07/12, I had to format my PC and I had to re-update it (4 years of updates :fou: i actually bought my PC in 2007).
I used Windows Update and it worked just fine.

AFTER I DID ALL THE UPDATES, I said: "Hey, I had that great program, Advanced SystemCare! Let's download it again!" (worst idea EVER)
So I installed it and...the next time I opened Windows Update, guess what? ERROR 80004002!

I tried LOTS of fixes AGAIN. None of them worked. :fou:

So I'm thinking Advanced SystemCare is conflicting with my Windows Update.
You actually can restore everything ASC did. Problem is, the first restore point I have is at 12/21/12, cause they OVERWRITE.
So what can I do? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance(d system care). :pfff:

Just my personal opinion, but I generally recommend people stay far away from programs like Advanced System Care. They tend to create problems far more than they resolve them.

As for your other issue, give this little program a spin and see if it can't fix what's wrong. Just remember it may require a reboot after you run it before things start working.

Cl-scott, thanks for your answer, but it says I haven't got any problems!

I have a customer who was recently conned out of £300 by telephone callers implying they were from Microsoft, who sold her Advanced System Care. Fortunately, when things started going wrong and she called me, I was able to persuade her bank to help get the money back, which we jointly did. Anything with Iobit or Advanced System Care in the name is at best a waste of space and at worse pernicious malware and I would be pleased if the makers sued me for saying on a public forum
