[SOLVED] Advantage using DP 1.4 on 1.2 monitor?

I’ve searched and understand they’re compatible, but I haven’t read if it’s worth upgrading.

I have a Viotek gn34c Ultrawide. It came with a DP 1.2. I bought a DP 1.4 but didn’t realize the monitor only supports 1.1 or 1.2.

Will there be any benefits to using the 1.4 if monitor doesn’t support? It was only 12$ on Amazon, but I’d rather return it if there’s absolutely no point.

R5 2600x
RX 580
16 gb 3200 ram
B450 mob

There is no benefit as that's a 3440 x 1440p @ 100Hz max monitor, and DP 1.2 is good at that resolution to ~110Hz.

The DP 1.4 on your RX580 and that cable could extend that to 200Hz, but your monitor can't do that.
