What is the purpose of undervolting the CPU?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of undervolting the CPU. Are there any?

Undervolting will reduce power and heat produced by your CPU making it cooler and quieter.

If you undervolt it too much it might crash but no damage can be done and you just need to raise it slightly.

Thank you very much, very quick reply. So, there's no disadvantage. What is the voltage limit for example my i3 2120, like how low can I get it? Can I undervolt it?

Not really any disadvantage. Unfortunately I don't know much in practice about undervolting. It's mostly experimentation.
