advantages of updating my bios of my mobo?

looking to possibly update my bios i currently have 2 2nd version and there are 2 more that are out that are newer. wondering if updating the bios is a easy task and if there will be any advantages of this?

GA-78LMT-S2P is my motherboard

Rule of thumb is don't do it if everything is working fine, BIOS updates are to support new hardware and fix problems if you have them.

You should only update the BIOS if there is a real need to do so.
And you do it exactly how the manufacturer says.

Mostly malfunctions of different hardware (something is not working as it should) or for added CPU support as manufacturers push out new products for the socket.
